Anyone who has spent time around pigeon fliers on race day has probably
heard the question
'When did you get a bird?'
GotYPM provides an answer that question and promotes the sport of pigeon racing.
On weekends in the Spring and Fall, thousands of racing pigeon fanciers have birds competing in
races at distances from 100 to 600 miles.
The birds from one or more groups of
fanciers "clubs" that are racing together are released
"liberated" at a
common point "race station" and are timed as they fly back
to their home "loft".
Multiple clubs in a geographic area group together into
increasing larger organizations,
named combines, concourses or associations,
to increase the number of birds competing together.
Only birds released at the same time, at the
same release point, may compete against each other.
Velocity values are in yards per minutes (YPM).
For the pigeon flyer, the site provides a view of pigeon arrivals
which can be used to monitor other lofts competing in their races or the
progress of races for other organizations.
Those who are not familiar with pigeon racing can get introduced to
this interesting and exciting sport.
Pigeon flyers from around the world are welcome to register and particpate.
